Norris explains his perfect

Lando Norris has secured his second pole position in his Formula 1 career. He will start from P1 in the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix after narrowly beating Max Verstappen. The Brit claims he had the perfect lap during qualifying.

Norris found half a second on his Q2 time. Despite Verstappen finding improvements, the McLaren driver still managed to get pole. Norris reflected on his lap during the first interview after the session.

How Norris secured pole position

"It was pretty much a perfect lap. You know when you're on a good lap, but the whole thing went perfectly. Super happy. My best pole position, I've not had many," Norris said. His other pole position came in 2021 at the Russian Grand Prix.

McLaren have been at the top for several weekends now, often pushing Red Bull for victories. Norris won in Miami but hasn't managed to find that pole position lap time until now. He feels McLaren have been strong enough to secure pole.

"We've been close, but this was about the perfect lap. That's what we did today. It's not just this weekend, we've been quick since Miami. We probably missed out on pole by not doing the perfect lap. Max and Red Bull seemed stronger all weekend than us, but we made some changes for the final run. We made some changes for it," Norris added before confirming his plan of getting victory in Sunday's race.
