New Verstappen in F1 in 25 years? 'At potential I would go for it'

At a sponsorship event at China, Max Verstappen talked about whether he would like his children to compete in motorsport. The Red Bull Racing driver holds that as a possibility, but will not actively push in any case.

Verstappen received training from his father from a young age, but Max himself does not necessarily plan for his son or daughter to receive similar training later on, although he certainly does not rule it out either. "I would advise him not to be a driver. Less stressful. I don't know. If he or she wants to race and I see the potential, then I would go for it. I's like how my dad did with me but I would never actively push.."

Perhaps 'grandpa' Jos will then also get another role in the process. "If he wants to. If he sees the potential, he probably will. If he doesn't see it, I don't see it, then you shouldn't even start. You shouldn't push your  children into something that you like."

The 26-year-old Dutchman then comes up with words to which there is nothing to object: "They need to come to you to ask them about what they want to do. It's a big one because if you're pushing your child into something, eventually he might not like it as much and then maybe he doesn't become determined enough to make it and then all the effort that you did is for nothing."
