Hans Zimmer performs national anthem at Austria GP
Formula 1 fans attending this year's Austrian GP will get to hear a very unique version of the Austrian national anthem before the race starts. Hans Zimmer has teamed up with drummer Martin Grubinger to create a special version of the anthem, which will be performed at the Red Bull Ring.
The anthem will be played by a band, and not just any band: in fact, 50 fans will have the chance to become part of it. Using a special app, musicians can learn the Austrian anthem on an instrument of their choice, after which they can submit a video that serves as an audition for a place in the band. More information can be found on the official website of the Red Bull Ring.
Zimmer talks about his unique version of the national anthem: "I tried with my reinterpretation to honor the Austrian anthem – and still give it a new tone. It will become a little more rock ‘n’ roll, a little more electronic, and a little more ‘dangerous’. What particularly fascinates me about the ‘The Anthem of Your Life’ challenge is exactly what fascinates me about music: Invite everyone to participate and also to become a musician, even if it’s only for one day."
The acclaimed film composer is best known for his music for the films The Lion King, Inception, Interstellar, Dune, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Last Samurai, The Da Vinci Code, Dunkirk, Top Gun: Maverick, the F1 film Rush and the latest James Bond film No Time to Die.
