Jordan sees Mercedes lagging behind Verstappen 'ridiculous'

People still had hopes for a more exciting season, but it looks like Max Verstappen will have another dominant year. Eddie Jordan said on the Formula For Success podcast that he is sorry to see other teams fall short.

Towards the end of 2023, McLaren made strides, regularly appearing on the podium. Ferrari also had a good second half of the season, with several pole positions. Therefore, hopes were high for fans of both teams: could they beat Red Bull in 2024?

Jordan on 'ridiculous' gap between Mercedes and Verstappen

The answer to that question seems to be no for the time being, as Jordan also sees: "Four weeks ago, 'maybe McLaren have something up their sleeve, they've got a really good chance and they can come up there'. But they're not in the same league as Red Bull. Mercedes are floundering, in my opinion. I have to give some credit to Fred at Ferrari. I'm sure he can't wait to get his hands on Lewis [Hamilton]."

There is no one to match Red Bull. Jordan thinks this is especially bad for Mercedes: "It's the same as last year, isn't it? It started poorly, and it's very hard to catch up. You've got somebody who has, what, 51 points on the board or something like that already with Max. I mean, it's just ridiculous. How is Mercedes going to compete? So the problem, I think, for all the other competitors is other than Ferrari, I cannot see anyone making a serious challenge to this Red Bull team."
