Ferrari won't compare with Red Bull: 'Still not enough'

On Friday, Ferrari just missed out on pole in Bahrain, a day later one of the red cars was on the podium. In the opening weekend of Formula 1, it became clear what everyone expected: Red Bull Racing is and remains the strongest team, with Ferrari as the next pursuer. Whether the Italians will also pose a serious threat to Verstappen and co. remains to be seen in the time to come.

Frederic Vasseur, Red Bull Racing's team boss, immediately after the Grand Prix did not allow himself to comment on whether and how quickly Ferrari manages to catch up with the Austrians. "First, I'm not focused on Red Bull, I'm focused on myself, and to try to get the best from what we have," the French team boss told GPblog and others.

Vasseur does not want to push too hard

"It was not completely ok for us this weekend. We had too many small issues in Quali yesterday, in the race today, and also that we have to consider that Jeddah will be a completely different story. It's not the same layout, not the same track, and we'll have a better picture on the global situation after Melbourne probably. But before Melbourne, it will be difficult to have a clear picture of the championship."

"But if you compare one year ago, let's say one second away, that we are perhaps five tenths today, and it's 50%, it's not enough. We are still behind. But to score the points of P3, P4 today with the circumstances, I think it's not a drama," Vasseur said.
