Ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, Christian Horner was the talk of the day. The Red Bull Racing team boss was cleared of cross-border behaviour a day before free practice after an investigation that lasted weeks. Here's what Max Verstappen had to say about it before the news came out.

In any case, Verstappen did not let the matter distract him. " I'm actually not that concerned with that, I'm just here to do my job and for the rest we'll see what comes out of it," he revealed to GPblog and others. The Dutchman answered questions regarding Horner's position nicely, but he could not say anything substantive about it. "That is also not up to me, I am not in that the whole story. Preferably I want to stay out of that."

Verstappen did say he had faith in the process, however, and he stressed that patience is needed in that. On a scenario where Horner might have had to leave as team boss, he said he did not even dwell on it. " I am paid to accelerate on the track and not to be busy with the business around it," he sounded resolute.

The three-time world champion did stress how important Horner, who has been at the helm of Red Bull Racing for almost two decades, has been to the team. " I think he is very important, otherwise he would not be in that position for so long," said Verstappen, who otherwise refrained from commenting for an obvious reason: "There is no need to start saying things, shouting things out loud. You have to be patient. I think I've learned that over the years."
