Sainz and Leclerc expect a lot from Ferrari: 'That's kind of the goal'

Ferrari have presented their new car for the 2024 F1 season. The new SF-24 should help Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz get better results in the coming season. The two drivers are therefore anxiously waiting to see how well the SF-24 will perform on track.

In 2024, Ferrari opts for a new car concept. Ferrari seemed very competitive in early 2022, but ran into a ceiling with developments. Red Bull Racing's concept proved to have much more potential and so Ferrari have to switch in 2024. That move is reflected in the new SF-24 presented on Tuesday.

"It is always an exciting moment for me and the drivers to present a new car to the world for the first time, even though we are all already thinking about the moment when we will take on our rivals on the track. This year we have to start where we left off at the end of last season, when we were consistently competing at the front," stated Frederic Vasseur.

What Ferrari expects from 2024

"The longest Formula One season ever is upon us and Charles, Carlos and I all agree that we need to be more effective in the way we manage the races, making bold choices to get the best possible result at every Grand Prix."

Leclerc is also positive about the upcoming season: "I think the car looks very nice, including the white and yellow parts on the car. But of course what really interests me is how it will perform on the track, because that is all that matters. The SF-24 should be less sensitive and easier to drive and for us drivers, that's what you need to do well. I expect the car to be a step forward in several areas and from the impression I got in the simulator, I think we are where we want to be."

"When I first saw the SF-24, I could not wait to get in and start it,'' stated Sainz, starting his final year at Ferrari. "Now I am looking forward to driving it on the track to see if it matches the feeling I had in the simulator, which is that it is the step forward we all want. The aim is to have a car that is more controllable and therefore can run a consistent race pace, because those are the basic requirements to fight for victory. We drivers did our utmost to give precise feedback to the engineers and I am sure the staff in Maranello listened to our wishes. We want to give the fans something to cheer about because they supported us so much last year, even when things didn't go the way we wanted."
