Janury 1, 2025, the day circled on the calendar for many Ferrari fans. For it is the day Lewis Hamilton will make the switch to Ferrari's team. The Briton's successor is still unclear, although team boss Toto Wolff is keeping the door open for everyone.

Wolff is glad Hamilton announced his choice so early. "Lewis had what was best for the team in mind when he announced his decision early on. Now we have the time and space to gauge the market," he told German newspaper Bild. Former Formula 1 driver Christian Danner believes all drivers should be included in the consideration.

"The only important thing is whether the driver is a reinforcement. There should be no legal or financial obstacles. Age is also completely irrelevant, contracts idem. Any driver who is at the level of Mercedes should be included. That's why they should also think about Max Verstappen."

Mercedes want only the very best

Toto Wolff previously indicated he wants nothing less than the very best. Him saying, "We will always strive for the best driver combination," was previously reported on GPBlog. In any case, there is going to be a lot of talk in the Mercedes boss' office in the near future.
