"I was aware of some talks with Ferrari," Gasly said at Alpine's car launch. "I think it was kept secret for quite a long time. Ultimately, he's towards the end of his career. So it was either now or never."

The move to Ferrari will free up a seat at Mercedes in 2025. Ocon still has a good relationship with Mercedes, but in 2023 Gasly was the faster of the two Alpine cars. Gasly himself is not commenting on a possible move up, but with an expiring contract, chances are that this Frenchman will look to be in Toto Wolff's sights.
