Pascal Wehrlein will start the first ePrix of the season from pole position. The former F1 driver, currently racing for Porsche's Formula E team, won the final qualifying round in Mexico City. In it, he took on Sébastien Buemi, who of course starts the race in second place (21:00 CET). From third place comes Max Guenther in the Maserati.

Pascal Wehrlein was the quickest in the first qualifying ssession of the year, ahead of former F1 driver Sébastien Buemi by two and a half tenth. The former champion returning to the series, Nyck de Vries came no further than the very last place in his Mahindra. The two Jaguars and Stoffel Vandoorne all incurred a one-place grid penalty. In free practice, they ignored a red flag.
