Jake Dennis: 'Every race we broke our own record'

While Formula 1 is in hibernation, another world championship is already getting underway. Formula E begin next weekend in Mexico, where the first E-Prix is scheduled at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Jake Dennis is the defending champion in the electric championship. The test driver of Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing is obviously going for championship again.

It was certainly a surprise in 2023: Dennis won the title with Andretti. "It's obviously been a long time since July since I won it. That's one of the nice things about Formula E is you still get the whole summer to celebrate and take it all in. I'm very eager to get a championship for season 10, obviously, going already. In July, it was an incredible month. Very excited. A lot of emotions went on directly after the race. It's an incredible feeling. But eager to get going again," said the Brit.

Andretti surprised all competitors

In Formula E, Andretti is the customer team of Porsche, the German team that itself grabbed next to the drivers' and constructors' titles. That the American team of Michael Andretti - who hopes to make his entrance into Formula 1 - did win a title was due to consistency, according to Dennis.

"To have 11 podiums in Formula E is not easy. We ended up obviously breaking our own record each race. So it was a pretty special year. But just a great team around me. We've got some really good people inside of Andretti. And then the Porsche powertrain was extremely efficient, especially in the racing," Dennis said.

The Briton certainly did not sit still after the end of the Formula E season. For instance, he remained active as a simulator driver for Red Bull Racing. For that team, he also made his debut during a Formula 1 weekend in Abu Dhabi. The Briton drove the RB19 in place of Max Verstappen during the first free practice, and he also appeared in action during the test day after the end of the F1 season.
