Max Verstappen is a romantic, at least when it comes to Formula 1. For example, the Red Bull Racing driver is not a fan of all kinds of changes in the sport, such as sprint races. The Dutchman also has a strong preference for old, historic circuits. Not for nothing does Verstappen include the tracks of Spa-Francorchamps, Zandvoort and Suzuka among his favourites.

Although Formula 1 is increasingly visiting new circuits - for example in the Middle East or the city race in Las Vegas - Verstappen prefers to complete Grands Prix on real race tracks. During a Q&A session with fans this week on TikTok, Max Verstappen was asked which historic circuit he would like to see Formula 1 return to?

"Mugello. Well, classic track. I mean, it is a great track in general. Mugello was really good," the Dutchman said. Incidentally, Formula 1 visited this circuit once for a Grand Prix, and it's near Florence in Italy. That was during the 2020 season, which was overshadowed by the coronavirus pandemic. In that year, the Tuscan Grand Prix was completed at this circuit. The winner that day was Lewis Hamilton. Alex Albon finished third in the Red Bull. After colliding with Kimi Raikkonen, Pierre Gasly and Romain Grosjean, Verstappen dropped out on the third lap of the race.

Mugello does host MotoGP every year. Moreover, the circuit is owned by Ferrari, who regularly use it for testing.
