Red Bull engineer Callum Nicholas said after the GP weekend in Qatar that there was no time to party after Max Verstappen won his third title on Saturday after the sprint race. Team boss Christian Horner reveals that Verstappen did enjoy the victory with a few drinks.

This becomes clear from a clip of an interview with Horner. In the Eff won with DRS podcast, the presenters discuss an interview that will not appear until later, but they show a small snippet anyway. In that excerpt, Horner talks about the 'party night' after the sprint race in Qatar. While all the drivers prepared for an extremely tough race in extreme heat, Verstappen prepared with five gin tonics.

'Verstappen found detox to survive heat Qatar'

Horner: "He is a good youngster, a nice guy. He is old school. He had won the championship in Qatar and I said, 'Let's get the whole team together and have some drinks.' It's not every day you win a championship.' It was also unusual to become champion on the Saturday already. We would also have a Grand Prix on Sunday in 42 degrees Celsius."

Horner continued, "Max sat in at one point with five gin tonics and then he thought, 'OK, we have to stop. Everyone has to go to bed now.' Everyone had a tough time on Sunday, we saw drivers passing out from the heat. I think Max had just found some kind of detox."
