Felipe Massa is still taking action to claim the 2008 world title. The Brazilian believes he was robbed of the championship because Formula 1 and the FIA were already aware of the crashgate scandal during the season. According to Massa, the race should never have counted in the championship, which would have meant that the former Ferrari driver would have become champion. Now, the Brazilian's team has taken legal action against Flavio Briatore, Renault and Ferrari, reports the Brazilian branch of Motorsport.com.

Briatore was Renault's team boss when the crashgate scandal took place. The head of the French team allegedly instructed Nelson Piquet Jr. to crash deliberately to give teammate Fernando Alonso a good chance of victory. Alonso won the race after the crash.

Massa legal action

Besides legal action against Briatore, Renault and Ferrari, Massa's team is also taking action against ING (sponsor of Renault at the time of the scandal), Pat Symonds (former Renault sporting director) and Steve Nielsen (former Renault sporting director). The purpose of Massa's team's legal action, is to make the parties against whom the action is being taken aware that this could become a lawsuit, and to prevent the documents from being altered or destroyed.
