Carlos Sainz finally grabbed his first podium of the season at Monza. The Spaniard started from pole position, but Red Bull was too quick in the race. His father, Carlos Sainz Sr, is happy with the podium his son managed to grab in front of the Tifosi.

It is a tough season for Ferrari. In 2022, the team was still competing for the world title in the first half of the season. Things are different in 2023, because while Red Bull has actually advanced in development, the Scuderia has lost a lot of ground on the competition. So the Italians are now third in the championship.

Sainz sr. happy with result

At Monza, however, Ferrari performed a lot better than in previous weekends. Sainz's father, who is also a two-time world rally champion, also saw that his son was strong this weekend: "It's been a very complete weekend to be happy, I'm sure he [Sainz Jr.] is delighted with the podium. It's been a weekend that has been there from minute one. To get a podium for Ferrari at Monza is a very good result the way the year is going."

Strategic decisions Ferrari

At the end of the race, the Spaniard was still battling for the final podium spot with his teammate, Charles Leclerc. Sainz Sr. says on DAZN: "It's funny. Sometimes they decide some things, sometimes others. It's up to him to ask, they have to understand the strategies of why sometimes you can attack, sometimes you can't, between them, but I'll take the result, I'll take third place."
