F3 Championship 2023 is over: Edgar wins last race

Formula 3 was in early action at the Monza circuit on Sunday. The main race was run and Jonny Edgar of MP Motorsport took his first victory. This victory concluded the 2023 championship.

F3 championship over, Colapinto loses P2

Gabriel Bortoleto already became champion on the Friday of the Italian Grand Prix weekend. It was a remarkable moment for the 18-year-old Brazilian who was told in his pit box during qualifying that he became champion. Indeed, the session was not resumed after a red flag, meaning his biggest rivals Paul Aron and Pepe Marti could no longer go for the bonus points. With that, Bortoleto's lead was big enough to be named the champion early on in the weekend.

After the final race on Sunday, things changed in the top five of the standings. Indeed, it was close between drivers behind Bortoleto. Franco Colapinto lost his second spot to Paul Aron and Zak O'Sullivan. Colapinto could not start the race and with his P2 in the race, O'Sullivan of the Prema Power team also shot to P2 in the championship. Aron picked up six points with his seventh finishing position and also bumped past Colapinto.
