Zandvoort still on calendar after 2025? 'Starting talks at the end of this year'

In 2021, the Dutch Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 calendar. The Grand Prix is held at Circuit Zandvoort and the current contract expires at the end of 2025. What will happen to the Grand Prix in Zandvoort after 2025?

Zandvoort must also raise the bar

Zandvoort showed what it was capable of in 2021, setting an example for other Grands Prix, but F1 boss Stefano Domenicali says Zandvoort must also improve. "On the one hand, we are very positive towards each other, but he also says to us, and rightly so: 'You too have to raise the bar every year'," director Robert van Overdijk told Viaplay.

"On the other hand, he says: 'You were the first Grand Prix to chase us a couple of years ago and let's do that especially together.' Because that means that both on the FOM side and on our side, we just want to take another step every year and make an impact. Not only what happens between the white lines but also in all kinds of other areas."

Zandvoort begins talks later this year

The future of Zandvoort after 2025 is unclear at the moment. There are ideas to rotate the Grands Prix in the Netherlands and Belgium, which Max Verstappen does not think is a bad idea. Van Overdijk says more clarity will only follow later this year. "We have also said to each other: 'Let's start the talks at the end of the year on what will happen after 2025'."
