Nyck de Vries has been sacked from AlphaTauri after only ten races. The Dutchman did not perform enough at his Italian employer according to Helmut Marko and the Austrian sent De Vries packing. Former De Vries teammate Stoffel Vandoorne reacts to the Dutchman's dismissal.

Vandoorne takes on De Vries

Vandoorne and De Vries were teammates in Formula E with the Mercedes team. Both drivers became world champions in the electric class with the German constructor, De Vries in 2021 and Vandoone in 2022. Speaking to Rtbf.be, the Belgian reacted to the dismissal of his former teammate.

"Unfortunately, it often happens a bit like that in F1! Either things can go very well, or they can go very badly. I think everyone expected great things from Nyck, but the car didn't perform, at all. It's very hard to get noticed then, unfortunately he had a very hard time. We also know how it goes in the Red Bull family: it often happens that way. Nyck is still a great guy. I think he will find something else in motorsport."
