Red Bull explains frustration: "Wasn't about the floor being visible"

During the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, Red Bull Racing rivals were treated to a unique look under Sergio Perez's RB19. Pierre Waché, the team's technical director, talks about the floor's greatest strength and how frustrating it was to see it so prominently displayed.

Something everyone agreed on after seeing Red Bull's unique floor was the complexity of the design. Moreover, according to Waché, it is very efficient. "On a track, on different tracks, we are able to produce downforce without massive drag. That I think is the main strength. It's clearly an incredible car," the technical director said at the press conference in Canada.

Frustration at Red Bull

After Perez parked his car in the wall and it was hoisted up, frustration could be seen on the faces at the Red Bull pit wall. However, this was not so much due to the fact that it allowed the competition to study the floor extensively, the 48-year-old Frenchman stressed.

"It was not the fact that we saw the floor, it was the frustration that the car was in the wall. I think the main frustration. But yeah, it's how it is and it happened to our competitors also," Waché continued. By this, he is referring to competitors at Ferrari and Mercedes, whose cars were also on extensive display.

The Red Bull chief does not want to go too deeply into what the rival F1 teams have all been able to learn from Adrian Newey's design. "I see some detail on the floor but I'm sure you can ask them what they see and if they learned something. But I think they had already some picture from the garage and see some detail of it before," Waché said.
