The RB19 of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez proved very dominant in 2023. Red Bull Racing managed to win all races (and the sprint) with its 2023 car, and only in Azerbaijan did the Austrian team miss out on pole twice.

Despite Red Bull being so dominant, Verstappen and Perez do keep things exciting at the top of the championship. Both Red Bull drivers have won twice so far. Only in Australia Perez had a bad weekend, leaving the Dutchman in the lead in the world championship.

Verstappen surprised by dominance

Red Bull thus won all four races so far and also managed to score a one-two three out of four times. That his team would be so dominant in 2023, Verstappen himself did not expect either.

"I think the car is pretty good, we have won all the races so far. I think that's a great start. Honestly I think we didn't expect it to be that good. I mean of course we had a very strong car to the end of the year (2022) but we really thought that starting this year other people would have been a bit closer," Verstappen says in the Pardon My Take podcast.

Verstappen names strong point RB19

The RB19 has shown no real weaknesses so far, but it has a lot of strengths. Verstappen names one of the strengths in the podcast. "Especially I think in the race the car is very very strong. That's of course where you score the points right? But yeah I think we are all positively surprised with it," the Dutchman concludes.
