Perez says Force India are still motivated despite off track issues

It’s been tough for Force India over the last few weeks and months, with the administration saga and now the departure of Bob Fernley, but driver Sergio Perez believes that the team are still in a good place.

The team have had a good run of results recently, with three double points finishes in the last four races helping the team to sixth in the constructors’ standings, just seven points behind Haas.

However, it is looking difficult for the team to replicate the heroics of their fourth placed finishes from the previous two season, with the deficit to Renault being a hefty 23 points with nine races remaining in the season.

Despite these issues, Perez says that his team are emerging from their rough patch.

“This team, it’s a bit used to being in difficult situations,” he said. “We’re coming out of a difficult position and I think the team is always ready.

“We have great team members and the people back home are performing at the best. Everyone is very motivated which I have to thank everyone for.”

With the departure of Fernley, more doubts were cast over the way the team was heading after it’s recent takeover, but Perez insists that good times are on the horizon.

He added: “I think the team is quite optimistic with what happened. We can see a release on the upgrades coming for the future.

“We’ll see a different structure financially. The team has a much more stable future or the coming years. That can directly be linked to track performance.”
