Carlos Sainz Junior has been announced at McLaren for 2019, but the Spaniard is committed to finish his time at Renault on a high, as he still has nine races to go with the French outfit.

After Daniel Ricciardo was announced to be driving for Renault next season, Sainz's future was up in the air. The Spaniard was still under contract at Red Bull, but the Bulls looked to fancy Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly more than a Sainz-Verstappen reunion.

McLaren saw their chance and put pen to paper, signing the Spaniard on a multiple-year deal. However, Sainz is still committed to get the most out of the rest of this season, even though his future lies elsewhere.

"We have a lot of hard work to come throughout this next phase of the season," Sainz told F1i.

"Staying fourth in the championship will not be easy, but we’re up for the challenge.

"I’ll be giving it my all to deliver the results on track.

"It’s good that I’ll still have the link to Renault next season, but my focus is definitely on the races this year."
