Hamilton: It's too early to think about the title

Hamilton: "It's too early to think about the title"

Lewis Hamilton claims the title fight is too tight to be thinking about winning it during the summer break. The Brit currently leads the championship having won the last two races in Germany and Hungary.

With a lead of 24 points, Hamilton may well be feeling more comfortable during the holidays than he would have done if things went as expected. The four-time world champion is well aware of the pressure he faces from Sebastian Vettel.

"I think it's too early to think about the title. We have had many ups-and-downs so far this season. We have learned a lot about a number of important issues. We still have a long way to go, and there are still nine races on the schedule. Indeed, anything can happen, and it is important that we continue to develop," Hamilton told Holland Motorsport Week.

The Mercedes driver went on to admit the luck he and his team received prior to the summer break. It makes him all the more aware of how fast the championship can swing.

"We have to keep working hard because in Germany we were tapped by Ferrari in qualifying. If it was dry in Hungary, I would never have been in pole position. It is clear that we feel comfortable under rainy conditions. There are still a number of circuits on which we will not be strong. Especially in Singapore we will be short, so our goal is to limit the damage on these circuits," added Hamilton.

The next race takes place in Belgium. With the track being known for his high power demands, Mercedes have to work hard to avoid starting the second stint on the back foot.
