Mercedes junior driver George Russell finished top of the timing sheets on the final day of the post-Hungarian Grand Prix test with a 1:15.575s on hypersoft tyres. The Formula 2 championship leader finished ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in second and Jake Dennis of Red Bull in third.

Russell's time was the fastest of the two-day test ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi who was on duty for both Ferrari and Sauber, finishing in fourth for the latter team on the final day of the test having topped day one in the Ferrari.

Force India had a turbulent day, Nikita Mazepin was on duty for them but was the cause of two stoppages, one before and one after lunch as the VJM11 suffered from reliability issues, but was able to record a time good enough for fifth place.

Almost a year on from his first test with the team, Robert Kubica finished sixth for Williams. The FW41 was quite the sight late in the day having been coated with four different colours of flow-vis paint as the team try to assess where and if updates have worked on the car.

Elsewhere McLaren prospect Lando Norris finished in seventh whilst his F2 rival and Renault test driver Artem Markelov finished one place behind in eighth.

Toro Rosso rounded out the order with Sean Galeal joining the usual line up for the team, Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley testing new Pirelli tyres.

Haas of course did not attend the event having cited insufficient and inaccurate data as their reason for skipping the post-race test.
