Vettel not keen on commentary position: "No, no, thank you!"

Sebastian Vettel travelled to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with double feelings, as it marked the last Formula 1 race of his career. The way his colleagues said farewell touched him, the four-time world champion says.

Vettel tells ServusTV that it was a strange sensation going into the Abu Dhabi GP thinking it was his last. He was aware that some things would be organised for his farewell, but at the same time he did not really know what to expect.

During the last race weekend of the year, F1 focused on Vettel's farewell. For instance, his fellow drivers formed a guard of honour before the start of the race, highlights from his career were shown and he was allowed to join the top three on the straight after the race to do donuts. Many people from the F1 paddock also ran around the circuit with Vettel.

"I think I was very, very lucky to be able to celebrate such a farewell. The recognition from the other drivers and the whole paddock meant a lot to me. I think the atmosphere throughout the weekend was very, very nice towards me and I think very special," said the 35-year-old German.

What awaits him in the future he does not yet know, although Helmut Marko hinted at a possible management position at Red Bull Racing. Vettel is not releasing anything about that, but he does know what he is definitely not going to do: a media role in the sport, such as co-commentator on television he definitely does not fancy. "No, no, no, let's not. No, thank you. I think there are others who can do it better," said the four-time world champion.
