Gasly incomprehension: 'I know they like to sell this story'

Pierre Gasly will make the switch to Alpine in 2023, putting him in a team with Esteban Ocon. It is an open secret that the two men have not always got on well together over the past decades, but Gasly is confident this will be different at Alpine.

With Gasly, the formation brings in a driver who has shown in recent years at AlphaTauri that he still carries many qualities. It is therefore hoped that he can help the stable move forward in the coming years, but then there should be no quarrels with his teammate.

However, the newcomer feels that those fears are mostly spread by the media. "I know they like to sell this story," Gasly stressed to Channel 4. "At the end of the day, it kind of makes me laugh because the media is really focusing on this story and trying to push it."

Alpine can count on fight

Gasly does not deny that Ocon and he both want to do well in 2023, which means there will be fight on the track. "It’s not new to anyone that you have a rivalry inside a team, but you’ve both got to be mature enough and smart enough to push the team forward."
