Here are some facts you may not have known ahead of next weekend's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim...

First Race Held:

This was way back in August 1970! Race 8/13 in the Formula One calendar. The 50 lap battle was won by Lotus driver, Jochen Rindt - despite starting from second position. Jacky Ickx of Ferrari and McLaren driver Denny Hulme completed the podium. Ickx recorded the fastest lap time of the day with 2.00.5, but the pole-sitter couldn't out-gun Rindt on the day.

Track Length:

4.574km... Not as big as the other German track - Nurburgring - but still a big and iconic track.

Most F1 Races Won:

That crown goes to German legend Michael Schumacher, who won it four times! His first win at Hockenheim stretches back to 1995.

Lap Record:

That goes to Kimi Raikkonen in his McLaren days back in 2004. Raikkonen recorded an amazing 1.13.780 on the circuit! Despite this incredible lap, the Finn crashed out of the race and had to retire. The day belonged to Schumacher, again.

Last Race:

The last time this track was raced on in Formula One, was back in 2016. Lewis Hamilton was the winner that day for Mercedes, oh how he'd love a win next weekend! Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen ensured a Red Bull two-three. Nico Rosberg started this race on pole but ended up in P4. Whilst fellow countryman Sebastian Vettel could only manage fifth place, as both Germans missed out on the podium in their home race!
