With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, Ferrari has two drivers who can be around for years to come. Moreover, reserve driver Robert Shwartzman is eager for a chance. Yet another new talent is already emerging within the Ferrari Academy: Oliver (Ollie) Bearman.
The Briton is only 17 years old, but next season he can already make his debut in Formula 2. Bearman has signed a new contract with Prema, Ferrari announced on its website. So after just one year in Formula 3 - in which the talent finished third in the standings with Prema - a promotion to the series directly below Formula 1 will follow.
Motivated
Bearman says he is ready for the challenge: “I’m very happy to stay with Prema moving to Formula 2”, Bearman said. “The Formula 3 season went very well and the team helped me progress throughout the year. Over the next few weeks I will be working as hard as I can on my preparation at the Ferrari Driver Academy. I know that 2023 will be very challenging but we are all very motivated. I can’t wait to get on track for the test at Abu Dhabi to start gaining experience prior to my debut at the opening round in Bahrain.”
Bearman is quickly making a career in motorsport. The Englishman joined the Ferrari Driver Academy after being selected at the 2021 FDA Scouting World Finals. Immediately, he was able to progress from F4 to F3. This season, he won the sprint race in Spain. He finished on the podium seven more times.
