Red Bull will not go over budget cap according to Horner

Red Bull Racing will not go over the budget cap in 2022 says team boss Christian Horner. The Brit dares to say this with almost 100% certainty after it was revealed earlier in 2022 that the team did go over the limit in 2021.
Red Bull will not repeat mistake
On Friday in Mexico, the punishment awaiting Red Bull was finally announced after the Austrian team overspent by more than a million pounds in 2021. A repeat of this mistake will be avoided in 2022 let Horner know in conversation with Autosport.com.
Horner reveals that many of the costs incurred in 2021 were one-off costs. The team boss reveals that these costs will therefore not recur in the current season. The Briton believes competing teams have spent more money than Red Bull this season when it comes to car development or damage after crashes.
Other teams spent more in 2022
Red Bull got off to a good start in early 2022 and was roughly equivalent to Ferrari's car. According to Horner, other teams tried hard to close this gap to Red Bull quickly and came up with more updates than Red Bull itself.
In addition, he explains that Max Verstappen is the driver with the least damage driven this season, while crashes in general do seem to be getting more violent. Think of Mick Schumacher's big hits in Monaco and Guanyu Zhou in Britain. Horner believes the spending limit needs to be re-examined when it comes to car damage.
You can never say with 100% certainty that you stay within the limit through crashes like these says Horner. With many one-off costs incurred in 2021, Horner is confident the team will stay within the limit in 2022.
