Lando Norris hoped to be in contention for wins with McLaren at the start of the season, but the formation failed to do so. Speaking to The Race he admits that it sometimes frustrates him that he cannot compete at the front, although he also understands his team's situation.

The British driver was given a permanent place at McLaren in 2019, making his fourth season already. In recent years, he was successively 11th, 9th, 6th and 7th in the world championship, with Norris feeling he remains stuck in his development.

Norris finds McLaren situation difficult at times

Norris would like to compete for wins with McLaren, but the driver will have to wait a while for that. Indeed, McLaren is not expected to have a competitive car until 2024 at the earliest. That is why Norris is trying to maintain his patience, although it is not easy.

"Personally as a driver, sometimes it hurts that you feel like you can do such a good job and you just get a little bit stuck at times. You don’t feel like you’re getting rewarded that well for what you’re achieving or what you’re putting in," Norris says. "But I think that’s just Formula 1. That’s just what happens."
