Red Bull will no longer make any significant upgrades to the car this year. Red Bull chief engineering officer Rob Marshall announced this on the F1 Nation podcast.

In many ways, Red Bull's season is already pretty much over. Max Verstappen secured the drivers' title in Japan, and next weekend in Austin the team can also win the constructors' title. All that remains at stake then is second place among drivers, where Sergio Perez is in a heated battle with Charles Leclerc.

Attention now turns to next season

So for Red Bull, there is little reason to develop much on the car anymore. In the F1 Nation podcast, Marshall, therefore, indicated that the team's attention has already shifted to next year.

"The focus is now completely on 2023. There will still be some minimal changes, but there will be no significant upgrade between now and Abu Dhabi."

To secure the constructors' title in Austin, Red Bull does not even need to win the race: as long as Ferrari does not out-score them by more than 18 points, Verstappen's team has clinched the title. This will then be the first time since 2013 that Red Bull has won the constructors' title. For Perez, it will be slightly trickier: he is only one point separated from Leclerc.
