Daniel Ricciardo is in his final months for McLaren. While the Australian has a fervent desire to continue his career in Formula 1 next year, however, the chances for him are getting slimmer. Meanwhile, Ricciardo is at peace with both situations, he told Fox Sports.

After his five-year association with Red Bull Racing, Ricciardo went through two disappointing periods. The driver failed to succeed at Renault in 2019 and 2020, after which his move to McLaren also did not go as expected. Ricciardo, therefore, wants to avoid this happening to him again.

"I’ve certainly accepted, if I’m not to be on the grid next year, I’m okay with that," Ricciardo revealed. "I’ve accepted that I’m not going to do everything, or my [management] team’s not going to do everything, just to put me on the grid if it’s not right or it doesn’t make sense."

Ricciardo tries to shake off problems

During the last Grand Prix in Italy, Lando Norris' teammate was doing well but had to drop out after 45 laps due to engine problems. As a result, race control sent a safety car onto the track, which was present until the end of the race.

"Days like this certainly are pretty frustrating. But give it 24, 48 hours and I’ll get over it and try to understand what’s best for next year," Ricciardo explained. "We haven’t certainly given up on [getting a seat], but that’s kind of where my head’s at, at the moment."
