Binotto helps FIA with 'new phenomenon in Formula 1'
- GPblog.com
Formula 1 teams have recently had to deal with a budget cap. Although Mattia Binotto is confident that the FIA will maintain this, he fears that the organisation is underestimating the work involved. The team boss therefore gives the FIA strong advice in conversation with Motorsport.com.
While the Ferrari team boss sees that the international motorsport federation has many people in house on a technical and sporting level to enforce the regulations, he notes that it is a different story when it comes to financial management. According to Binotto, the FIA is therefore short of hands to keep an eye on the teams.
Binotto therefore knows that it will take time before the racing teams know exactly how the rules are enforced and the FIA has also chosen the right line. Therefore, he believes that until then there is no harm in having more financial controllers.
Binotto keeps situation in the middle
The Ferrari team leader expects the FIA to have more people working in the financial field in a few years' time, but feels it is up to the teams to push the organisation in the right direction. He calls the situation 'a big question mark' for the time being.
