Steiner defends Grosjean as his career falls to pieces

Gunther Steiner has stepped in to defend his driver once again after his 2nd crash in 2 races. He drifted the car and kept his foot on the throttle causing him to launch back onto the track whilst creating a smoke screen.

The latest crash didn’t just end his race, but also 2 others making this incident a bigger cause for concern than his individual crash in Baku.

Steiner played down the incident claiming it was a: “normal first lap incident”

“Yes, the consequences were unpleasant, but you only have a few milliseconds to decide - and that’s what he decided.

“Right now, Romain’s reputation suffers and he’s an easy target for criticism, but I think the decision of the stewards was a slap in the face,” said Steiner.

Fans across the world have jumped straight on the Frenchman’s back, with even some suggesting he needs to change sports.

But Steiner stands by his most experienced and most paid driver.

“Right now, Romain is down, but he responds in the right way. Of course, nine races without points is not good, but he’s just got to get on the horse again,” added Steiner when talking to Ekstra Bladet Newspaper.
