Frederic Vasseur says he is working hard to find a "solution" to allow Formula 2 talent Theo Pourchaire to drive a first free practice session for Alfa Romeo sometime this year. He admits that scheduling problems have made it difficult so far.

Mandatory

According to the rules, it is mandatory for all teams to have a junior driver drive at least two first free practice sessions this season. Pourchaire, who is part of the Sauber Academy, is currently third in the F2 championship and has good chances to win.

"We will find an FP1 [session] because it's per regulation that you have to give an FP1 to the rookie,” said Vasseur to Formula1.com.

Tight schedule

“But when we discuss about it, if you consider when you have the F2 races, we have some events with the Sprint races, we will have some events with tyre testing," the Frenchman concluded.
