Sergio Perez came close to winning the British Grand Prix. Hard fought by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, he fell short of challenging Carlos Sainz but was narrowly beaten. The Red Bull Racing driver finished second, but is taking a lot of confidence from the speed at Silverstone.

"If there had been more laps, we would have had a chance to win. We fought too long with Charles and Lewis," Perez acknowledged in conversation with Sky Sports. The Mexican was fighting for over three laps before he got past Leclerc and Hamilton. According to Perez, the battles were very hard, but also fair.

Perez continues to watch Ferrari

"It's a good example of how the whole field should be racing. It was to the limit." While Red Bull saw their run of wins in a row interrupted by Sainz, Perez is not yet worried about the lead they currently have in the championship. Currently, that lead is 63 points.

Yet Perez thinks they still have to take serious account of the speed of the Italians."Ferrari have been battling with us since the first race of this season. It has not been easy, but they are constantly in the hunt." Perez acknowledges that they have made mistakes with Leclerc and Sainz and had reliability issues, but also sees that they have the speed every weekend.
