Alain Prost has sold his stake in the Renault Formula E team, e-dams. The move is primarily so the Frenchman can focus on Renault's renewed efforts in Formula One with the manufacturer making it their goal to be fighting at the front by 2020.

Prost had been a very visible figure in the paddock at Formula E races however with this move, the 5-time F1 champion looks to be distancing himself from the electric category in favour of focusing primarily on the Renault team in Formula One.

"It was difficult to do everything with Formula E and F1, even physically with all the travelling," he said. "It turns out that when Renault made the decision to focus on F1, it made sense that I follow with about the same timing.

"We are about where we thought we would be. It's first step, and the second one starts now."

Prost maintained he still believed in Formula E and that he would remain in an advisory role for the Formula E side of competition whilst his main focus will be in F1.
