Max Verstappen did not start the first free practice session for the Miami Grand Prix entirely satisfied. The Dutchman spent a lot of time in the pit lane due to an overheated RB18.

After half an hour, Verstappen managed to record only the eighth fastest time on the soft tires, but the Dutchman's performance has been limited so far. Verstappen sounded frustrated on the on-board radio after being told to come back in.

"How do you expect me to learn the track," the Red Bull driver responded over the radio. The drivers are eager to take advantage of the free practice sessions, as there is much to learn at the brand new Miami circuit.

Car Verstappen overheated

Team boss Christian Horner, however, gives a logical reason: "The car is getting a bit overheated, that's why the car is inside for maintenance." Temperatures are running high in Miami. The track temperature during VT1 is around fifty degrees.
