Binotto: 'we're going to start pushing the car further at Saudi Arabia'

Ferrari started the 2022 season rock solid with a one-two in Bahrain. According to Mattia Binotto, there is still much more development potential in the car. In Saudi Arabia, the Scuderia will start to get this potential out of the car.
Ferrari came to Bahrain without major updates
After the first week of testing in Barcelona, Ferrari chose to optimize the first version of the F1-75, unlike Red Bull Racing and Mercedes who already came with major upgrades. For now, it seems to be a smart move by the Italians, because in Bahrain the team immediately grabbed a one-two punch. Something the team last did in the 2019 Singapore GP.
Binotto says in conversation with SoyMotor.com that there is still a lot more potential in the car. "I'm pretty sure that at the next race we're going to start pushing the car further," he said. According to the Italian team boss, it is of great importance that every update to the car from now on is actually an improvement.
Not making any more mistakes
"That's even more important now that we have a budget ceiling, so we can't go wrong because we have only a few development opportunities," Binotto continued. Here he emphasizes that whatever the development opportunity is it must be right.
Charles Leclerc was the winner in Bahrain and also drove the fastest lap. Carlos Sainz finished second, giving Ferrari an immediate 44 points. Red Bull Racing did not score and is therefore immediately at a considerable disadvantage.
