Wolff analyzes: 'I don't think there's a big difference'

Toto Wolff could breathe a sigh of relief after the opening race in Bahrain. The Mercedes team boss saw Lewis Hamilton take a podium after all, when Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez both had to drop out.

Mercedes fell a lot short of speed compared to the competition at the Bahrain Grand Prix. It caused unease for Mercedes who will ask themselves where the lead of the other teams comes from. However, Wolff looks at the situation objectively, telling ORF, "I don't think there is a big difference between the power units."

On the race in Bahrain he looked back with satisfaction. "We learned a lot. On soft tires we were there a bit at the beginning, then things went wrong. Then we tried to do something different with the hard tires, and that was a real setback. There's still a lot of work to do."

Drama for Red Bull after Verstappen and Perez drop out

Red Bull Racing seemed to be pushing hard for second position with Verstappen, but the Dutchman had to drop out early due to engine problems. It resulted in Ferrari capturing the first and second positions, while Hamilton came home third.
