Christian Horner is happy with the second starting spot for Max Verstappen. The Red Bull Racing top man saw a tremendously strong Ferrari and an outstanding lap by Charles Leclerc. It is relatively easy for Horner to accept not capturing the pole position.

"Ferrari have been strong all winter and you could see it was going to be tight. Charles drove a great lap," Horner told Sky Sports after qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. According to the team boss of the Austrian racing stable, Verstappen could have been a bit faster. "Max had a little wobble in the last corner."

Satisfaction prevails at Red Bull. "After such an intense year last year,  to turn up to the front row in new regulations with Checo behind on the second row, we’re very happy with that," Horner told the cameras. Perez was three tenths slower than Verstappen and will therefore have to put pressure on Carlos Sainz.

Verstappen fast in long runs

Verstappen was the fastest driver in the long runs during Friday practice. In that respect, Red Bull should have a small advantage over Ferrari, but we'll have to wait and see if that's still the case on Sunday.
