All winter, F1 has been busy analysing the final play of Abu Dhabi. On the last lap, Max Verstappen passed Lewis Hamilton, but according to many, this overtake came about due to an unjust decision by the stewards. Race director Michael Masi already had to step down as a result, and the FIA will present their investigation results this weekend.

Those research findings will likely include how F1 can avoid a similar scenario in the future. Although there is already peace in the F1 paddock with the outcome of that race, many fans are still disappointed in the sport. Consequently, many appreciate Verstappen's title less, as he would have won it with the help of the race control.

Verstappen clear about title

In the press conference in Bahrain, the Dutchman is asked if he still feels he has to prove something after Abu Dhabi. Verstappen, however, responds firmly to this. "No. I've already proven myself with most wins, most pole positions and most laps in the lead, right?"

"People do seem to forget that, they only look at Abu Dhabi." This season, Verstappen will drive as world champion with number 1 on his car, and that will have to help him towards title prolongation this season. The first signs from the winter test look good, but this weekend in Bahrain will really prove whether the Dutchman is a title contender for this season.
