Horner on Mercedes: 'We were pretty happy here last year'

Red Bull Racing can be reasonably satisfied with the performance of the RB18 ahead of the new Formula 1 season. Moreover, the team looks better than Mercedes, although Christian Horner is keeping a sharp eye on the current situation. 

During the test days in Bahrain, the Austrian racing team applied a number of upgrades on Saturday morning, after which Sergio Perez immediately put the fastest time on the board. It showed once again that Red Bull is intent on competing for the world championship this season.

Horner knows his own strengths like no other, but in the meantime remains keen on Mercedes. The team boss of the Austrian formation knows that Mercedes could surprise next weekend. "We were pretty happy here last year and then Mercedes came back to win the first race. It's very difficult to predict with this new regs," he revealed to Sky Sports.

Porpoising causes problems for Mercedes

Behind the scenes, Mercedes is struggling with porpoising. According to an employee of the German formation, this problem cannot be solved just like that, because it can change the entire composition of the car. Mercedes, therefore, has another week to solve it.
