Preparation for the new season is in full swing. The teams will have the opportunity to test for three days in Barcelona this week, of which they will take full advantage. According to Jolyon Palmer, the drivers would be wise to also try to race close behind other drivers.

The FIA threw the rules surrounding Formula 1 into sharp relief this year. The teams had to deal with completely different regulations by the beginning of 2022, which means that the cars will also look different. Among other things, it should make it easier in the future to drive behind the car in front and then overtake it.

Palmer gives interesting advice

However, it will take some getting used to for the drivers to get this fully under control. Palmer, therefore, thinks it would be wise for the drivers to use the test days in Barcelona as an opportunity to try this out, so that they are well prepared for the first Grand Prix in Bahrain. He tells this from his own experience to the official website of Formula 1.

"If I was a driver, I'd be trying to practise following another car ahead of the start of the season," Palmer reveals. "No team will set that experiment up in Barcelona, I don't think – but I think it will happen at some point in the course of longer runs."
