Verstappen doesn't want a Grand Prix in Russia: 'Not right to race there'

Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel have spoken out about the situation between Russia and Ukraine. The drivers do not think it is right to travel to Russia for the 2022 Grand Prix. 

Tensions between the two countries have been running high. On Thursday morning Russia reportedly invaded Ukraine. Formula 1 let it be known on Thursday morning that they would not make any statements about the Grand Prix of Russia, which is scheduled for September 25.

During the press conference before the second day of testing in Barcelona, Verstappen reacted to the situation. "When a country is at war, it is not right to race there", states the Dutchman, quoted by the BBC. 

Vettel will not race in Russia

Vettel also has a strong opinion about the GP in Russia. The German is shocked by the invasion and will not travel to Russia if F1 does not decide to cancel the race. "I should not go, I will not go. It's a very strange and mad leadership." Nikita Mazepin also reacted to the situation in his home country, but he is not worried about the Grand Prix going ahead.
