'Red Bull the team to beat in 2022, ahead of Mercedes and Ferrari'

In a week full of car launches from the teams and with only a few weeks to go before the start of the new season, the predictions also begin. Which team will have dealt best with the new regulations. Leo Turrini makes his predictions for the 2022 season.

The well-known Italian Formula 1 expert Turrini makes a ranking of the teams in 2022 on his blog. He thinks that Red Bull Racing is going to have the best chances in 2022. According to the Italian, this is not least because of "genius" Adrian Newey as the team's designer. Mercedes will be the second team behind them.

Ferrari has caught up with Red Bull and Mercedes

Whether it has to do with any chauvinism we'll leave to one side, but Turrini predicts that Ferrari can seriously compete for prizes again next season. "I know they are convinced that they have closed the remaining gap with the power units [of Red Bull and Mercedes]," he said.

Behind the top three teams, Turrini expects the most from Aston Martin and McLaren. AlphaTauri could hold on as the sixth team, mainly thanks to its close relationship with Red Bull. From Alpine, however, the Italian does not expect much. Especially Pat Fry, recently promoted to chief technical officer, he does not have a high opinion of. Alfa Romeo, Haas and Williams are once again counted as the finalists in 2022.
