Charouz has pulled off a stunt in Formula 2. In fact, the team has recruited Cem Bolukbasi, who made a name for himself mainly in sim racing, for the 2022 season.

It is the dream of every young sim racer to one day break through into motor racing. Until recently, however, there were few examples of drivers who shot through from the simulator to the top, but this is now changing. With Bolukbasi, Charouz has acquired a sim racing champion.

From sim racing to Formula 2

The Turkish driver made his name mainly with his performance in the 2020 Formula Renault Esport Series. He managed to win that championship. Bolukbasi was not only in the simulator, but also competed in karting championships between 2007 and 2012 and finished second in the 2020 GT4 European Series in a real race car.

Although Bolukbasi didn't manage to make much of an impression in all those entry-level classes otherwise, Charouz is giving the Turk a chance in Formula 2 in 2022. This makes the Turk's dream come true and sets a great example for many young sim racers to follow. Whether it will also be a success we will see this year.
