Lewis Hamilton had to accept a painful defeat in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Max Verstappen caught up with him on the last lap of the race, causing him to miss out on the world title. It is reported that the Briton is thinking about quitting, but Carlos Sainz is not hoping for that.

The Spaniard says in an interview with Marca Sainz still enjoys seeing Hamilton on the track. The seven times world champion proved not only by winning the world championship, but also during last season how great his qualities are and according to Sainz Formula 1 can't do without them for the time being.

Although Sainz does not know what Hamilton's thoughts are in these weeks, he has a clear message for him. "I don't know, but hope Hamilton doesn't stop racing," Sainz states clearly. "I want to keep racing with him. He is one of the best in history and I want to keep sharing the grid with him."

Hamilton gets new teammate at Mercedes

Hamilton will face a new teammate next season. Whereas Valtteri Bottas has been in the same team since 2017, George Russell should provide new competition within Mercedes in 2022. With his fellow countryman, he should be able to win his eighth world title.
