Jos Verstappen thankful for Anthony Hamilton's respect

After Max Verstappen won his first Formula 1 title, he was quickly congratulated by Anthony Hamilton, the father of Lewis. Jos Verstappen praised the respectful behaviour of Anthony.

Immediately after Max Verstappen won his first world championship in Formula One, he was swarmed by drivers and other big names in the sport to congratulate him. When he had a moment together with his father moments later, the brand new champion was approached by Anthony Hamilton, who congratulated him on his victory.

It is a gesture that Jos Verstappen really appreciates. To The Express Verstappen senior let it be known that he not only had kind words for Max at that moment, but that Jos and Anthony also had contact during the season. "I have had a number of conversations with him via WhatsApp. He's very nice and always respectful."

Verstappen not 'the real champion

Lewis Hamilton's brother didn't take kindly to the loss. Nicolas Hamilton took to Instagram to congratulate Verstappen on his victory, but also said that he thinks Lewis is 'the real champion'. Meanwhile Verstappen doesn't have to worry about his title being taken away anymore, as Mercedes won't be pursuing their appeal against the FIA after all.
