"Albon has the speed to win, but only at the end of the race"

Renger van der Zande sees a special type of racer in Alexander Albon. The two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona thinks the Thai, who took his first podium last weekend, is more of an 'endurance racer'.

Van der Zande explains why in an interview with De Telegraaf. "It seems as if at the end of the matches he suddenly comes out very hard and that he can draw matches to himself. At the end he was chasing Bottas, but at the beginning he is almost half a second short. And why is that? Because he just can't quite sit on it at the beginning of the race".

"Qualification is rather important"

"Qualifying is rather important in Formula 1, because overtaking is very difficult. It clearly falls short when it has to be done. But at the end of the race, as you saw on the Red Bull Ring, he is fighting for victories, so to speak. He has the speed to win, but only at the end of the race", he concludes.

Max Verstappen's team mate took his first podium this weekend at Mugello, third place. The past few weeks he received a lot of criticism.
